Dearest Reader,
I have always loved romance novels. Being swept away in a good romance book always made me feel better. I'm a sucker for love! Directing Of Marriage Minded Misses by Amanda Doig has been an absolute joy and a dream come true. With this world premiere Regency-era comedy, we've crafted an experience that blends wit, charm, and a classic flair, while diving into the timeless intricacies of love, societal expectations, and the quest for happiness with a good dose of laughter. And what a better time to do it, than the 75th Anniversary for Cambrian Players!
Bringing a new work to the stage is a collaborative feat, and I am so fortunate to have been surrounded by such a talented and dedicated team in all aspects of this production, from actors to designers, to front of house volunteers, and everything in between. I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to the Cambrian Players Board of Directors for the incredible opportunity to return as a director for the world premiere of Of Marriage Minded Misses. Your trust, support, and commitment to bringing fresh, vibrant stories to the stage are inspiring. It has been an absolute honor to work alongside such a dedicated team.
And, finally, my deepest thanks go to Amanda Doig for writing such a perfectly crafted play. Amanda's sharp wit, understanding of human nature, and sense of period detail have given us a piece that's rich in both comedy and insight. Of Marriage Minded Misses is a play that feels timeless yet fresh, and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to direct its first production.
Thank you to everyone involved for making this premiere a memorable experience—one that I hope our audiences will love as much as we have loved creating it.
Forever a Romance Reader,
Julie MacCoy

This Olivier Award-winning show is a sharp comedy/drama with a twist. In the 21st century, a couple is living as if it's the 1950s by choice. As their story unfolds, questions arise about gender roles, our romanticized view of the past, and what is learned - and lost - by moving forward.
