Cambrian Players is pleased to announce that open auditions will be held for their upcoming production of VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE written by Christopher Durang and directed by Julie MacCoy.
Auditions will be held on Monday December 6th from 6PM to 9PM and Tuesday December 7th from 6PM to 9PM at the Cambrian Players Theatre at 818 Spring Street.
Vanya and his adopted sister Sonia live a quiet life in the Pennsylvania farmhouse where they grew up, but their peace is disturbed when their movie star sister Masha returns unannounced with her twenty-something boy toy, Spike. A weekend of rivalry, regret, and raucousness begins!
We are looking for actors over the age of 18 to participate in the following roles:
Vanya: male 45-60 – Lives in Bucks County. Resigned to his life, more or less, at least compared to Sonia.
Sonia: female 45-60 – Vanya’s adopted sister, living with him in Bucks County. Discontent, upset, regretful.
Masha: female 45-60 – Vanya’s sister, glamourous and successful actress who goes gallivanting around the world.
Spike: male 20-30 – An aspiring actor, sexy, self-absorbed, Masha’s new companion.
Nina: female 18-25 – Lovely, sincere would-be actress, visiting her aunt and uncle next door. Starstruck and energetic.
Cassandra: female 25-40 – Cleaning lady and soothsayer: kooky and witty
Performance evenings are Wednesday March 2nd to Saturday March 5th and Wednesday March 9th to Saturday March 12th. All performances will take place at the Cambrian Players Theatre.
Materials will be provided for cold readings.
Actors of all ethnic/cultural/sexual/gender identities are invited to audition. Prior acting experience is helpful but not essential.
Auditions will be held in 20 minute bubbles to ensure a successful audition and time to sanitize between bookings.
All Participants are required to be fully vaccinated. Fully vaccinated is defined as having received two Canadian-approved vaccine doses and having completed the 14-day waiting period following the second dose. We will respect medical exemptions.
All safety aspects will be taken into account along with recommendations from the Thunder Bay District Health Unit to ensure the safety of the performers and crew.
